Power – The more AMPS a vacuum has the more power it will have. However, that also means it will use more electricity.
Filters – If you are an allergy sufferer then you will probably want a HEPA upright vacuum to keep your air free from allergens.
Attachments – Does it have a lot of attachments that allow you to not only clean the floor, but stairs and drapes as well.
Cost – As with most things in life you get what you pay for. While some vacuums may cost more money; they may also last for many years to come as opposed to a cheaper vacuum.
